I love a good historical romance, but this one didn't quite hit the mark for me. It was entertaining as a short read, but I felt that the story needed more room to breathe than it was given in novella form - it would have benefitted from being a full-length novel.

I liked watching Meredith's growing confidence and her strength of mind was awesome to read, but her relationship with the Duke just didn't grab (or hold) my attention - I wasn't invested in it. I did feel quite invested in the emotional development of the Duke though, so it turns out that I liked the individual characters but didn't have enough time to care about them as a couple.

Lady Meredith is forced into a marriage with Duke Ethan, who needs her for her dowry. They agree to a two-week marriage, after which they will separate, so Meredith decides to utilise her time as a wife to explore all of the fantasies she has based on her favourite romantic novels.
