💭 My thoughts...

2/5 stars

The idea behind this book really intrigued me and I was keen to get stuck into the series, but sadly the execution of the story fell short for me.

I enjoyed the character of Delilah Bard the most in the story. She brought a much-needed sense of humour to an otherwise intense story, and her sense of determination was interesting to see littered throughout the plot.

Other than that, I struggled with the book. I found the four different versions of London lacked interest for me - I understood the premise of each but found it challenging to follow each of the different sets of characters and what was happening where.

This bled through the ending of the story, which I found to be very convoluted and difficult to stay on top of, especially in audiobook format. This was not aided by the fact that I didn't feel particularly emotionally invested in the end.

I can see why this book would appeal to people, but it was a foray into fantasy that just didn't work for me and I won't be continuing with the series.

📖 Synopsis...

Kell is a magician that smuggles artefacts between the three remaining parallel Londons - Red, White and Grey (Black London has been cut off). On one of his runs, he encounters Delilah Bard, who ends up being with him when the job goes awry. The two of them have to work together to overcome danger and save all versions of London.
