A Mindfulness Guide For The Frazzled by Ruby Wax
My review
4/5 stars
I've read several of Ruby Wax's books in the past couple of years, but not the earlier ones. Mindfulness is something that I keep revisiting and always struggle to completely get into the habit of, so I was keen to see if Ruby Wax's more humorous approach to it helped.
Sadly it didn't make a difference to my approach to mindfulness. I listened to an audiobook version of this and found the mindfulness guide in the second half of the book hard to follow along with. It didn't encourage me to go back and give the meditations another go.
What I did enjoy about this book was the author's writing style. She is brutally honest but it never feels hard to listen to or abrasive - she's just relatable on a universally human scale. Her anecdotes were delivered with humour and warmth, and provided realism and accessibility in a big way.
