💭 My thoughts...

5/5 stars

This book had a very entertaining and meta premise - the author wrote a book full of romance tropes but had the main character be a romance author who is fully aware of each and every trope happening in front of her. I loved it.

There was great chemistry between the two leads, Margot and Forrest, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the dual POV throughout. It gave an added texture to what was going on and allowed me to engross myself in both sides of the story. What happened between them was somewhat cheesy at times, but it's a testament to the author's great writing that I really didn't care; it all felt natural to what was happening in the story.

This book had a surprising emotional depth for me, tackling loss, grief, identity crises, trauma and life as a carer - all in a soft romance bubble so that nothing ever felt like it weighed the story down. In fact, I would argue that it made the characters feel so much more relatable, and ultimately likeable.

I found this a very engaging and easy read, and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good romance.

📖 Synopsis...

Margot is a romance author who finds herself at a crossroads in her career. In a bid to help, her sister packs her off to a remote resort in Alaska to give her the time to focus on writing her next book. While there, she meets Forrest - he runs the resort and puts Margot in the position of experiencing every romance trope she's ever written in her books first-hand. The question is will they both be able to put aside their respective traumas and challenges to find their own version of Happy Ever After?
