💭 My thoughts...

4/5 stars

This book was so easy to read, I really enjoyed the experience. There was something about the tone and the structure of the writing that made it feel effortless.

Bex and Duncan were both brilliant characters, with enough depth to make them feel real and enough chemistry to keep them interesting throughout the story. They were joined by a delightfully grumpy estate owner, an overprotective sister, some fun friends and a really cute dog, making their world feel full and realistic. I had a lot of fun watching their back-and-forth develop into something more meaningful.

I was so close to giving this 5 stars, but it ended so abruptly that it didn't feel right to. It ended in what felt like the middle of the story, with no real resolution to the bigger plot points. I understand that this is intended to be part of a series, but it felt like a quite unnatural place to end things and left me feeling confused and a little unsatisfied, which is a shame, because I was really enjoying the book.

📖 Synopsis...

Bex Barker is sent from London to Scotland by her boss; her job is to help a friend of her boss's sort his messy and long-abandoned accounts. She knew the work would be hard, but she didn't account for the challenge of trying to avoid getting into a relationship with the brooding and charming groundskeeper, Duncan.
