Ready Or Not by Cara Bastone
My review
5/5 stars
Ready Or Not follows Eve as she finds herself pregnant after a one night stand. While navigating building a relationship with the baby's father and managing the complicated reaction of her best friend (who is struggle to conceive), Eve finds herself leaning on her best friend's brother, Shep. Their developing relationship adds yet another complication in her already complex life.
This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and I'm thrilled to say that it did not let me down. I was enthralled by the plot, the characters and the natural slow-burn chemistry between Eve and Shep.
I haven't read any pregnancy trope books but I enjoyed the way it weaved through this story without overpowering the story. It kept the plot moving and provided the conflict, but Eve's emotional growth was the main focus, and was well-written.
The slow-burn friends to lovers had me eagerly devouring every page to find out how they would get to their happy ending. The writing style yet again affirmed why Cara Bastone is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors.
Loved it!
Book blurb

Eve Hatch has always been content to coast through her life, with a steady, if uninspiring, job and a cozy apartment in Brooklyn, close to her childhood best friend Willa and far from the midwestern, traditional family who never really understood her.
But when she finds herself pregnant after an uncharacteristic one-night stand, her comfy life is suddenly up in the air. Eve''s loyal friendship with Willa is feeling tense, right when she needs her the most, and it''s actually Willa''s steadfast big brother, Shep, who steps up with the most support and he''s . . . suddenly kinda hot?
As if she needs one more complication, there''s also the baby''s father, who is technically supportive, but majorly conflicted. But as Eve struggles to figure out the next step in her expanding reality, she begins to realize that family and love, in all forms, can sneak up on you when you least expect it.
