💠My thoughts...
5/5 stars
I loved the first book in this series so much, that I was very much anticipating good things when I picked up the second. My rating shows that I was not disappointed. I struggled to put this book down to be honest.
It was an action-packed conclusion, with a little bit of everything thrown into the mix again - war, romance, family dynamics, friendship, propaganda. Not a stone was left unturned, and all characters were revisted with care and reverence, with an ending that made sense for them.
I predicted that the romance of this book was going to feel a little stilted, because it was happening in the face of memory loss and war, but I was so happy to be proven wrong. The author handled it beautifully and the writing was incredibly powerful.
I particularly loved watching Iris come into her own in this book. She discovered her courage and the power of her voice in a way that the first book didn't allow her to. She became even more resilient and brave, and risked it all to stand up for those she loved and what she believed to be right. Definitely the best character in the series; although Roman isn't far behind her, this really felt like it was Iris's book.
Loved. Perfect sized little series with two excellent books to get stuck into. Very excited for the prequel, Wild Reverence, later in the year.
📖 Synopsis...

The book picks up two weeks after the first book concluded, with Iris back in Oath trying to continue her work while looking for Roman, who is lost behind enemy lines with no memory of Iris or what happened to them.
When they end up on opposite sides of the war, Iris ends up taking drastic measures in an attempt to get back to Roman before Dacre and Enva's war reaches it's dramatic conclusion.
