💭 My thoughts...

4/5 stars

Elodie and Gabriel were very endearing characters, both individually and together. Their chemistry was simultaneously electric and funny, with the fantastic sense of humour employed throughout the story serving to make the fantasy elements more digestible.

The author wrote in a very engaging way that made me want to keep reading as much as possible in one sitting, supported heavily by the very strong audiobook narration. This is further evidenced in the fact that I found myself bought into miscommunication trope; this is a trope I normally don't enjoy, but this one felt very well done and I ended up really liking it.

I didn't realise at the time that this was part of a series, so I will definitely be reading the other book.

📖 Synopsis...

Professor Elodie Tarrant is sent to investigate a magical eruption in a Welsh village. Unfortunately for her, so is her estranged husband, Professor Gabriel Tarrant. They have barely spoken since their wedding day and now they are being forced to resolve the magical issue before it spreads to London and brings the entire country into a state of ruin.
