My review

5/5 stars

This book has been given A LOT of attention on the internet; it kept appearing on my Facebook book group pages and Bookstagram account. I'm a naturally curious person and terribly afflicted with FOMO, especially when it comes to books, so obviously I had to investigate.

Olive was an incredibly endearing female lead. She had a brilliant mix of sass and vulnerability that compelled me to feel connected to her from the start. My favourite thing about her, though, was her relationship with her twin, Ami. The authors did a fantastic job of capturing the closeness they shared and the ease with which they interacted.

Ethan was a very charming male lead. He was a fun read, and oddly likeable given how standoffish he first seemed to be. The ex-girlfriend angle that was included was a great way of giving him an added humanity that could have otherwise been lacking in his character.

The chemistry between the two jumped off the pages. Their interactions were incredibly entertaining, and really were the highlight of the book. The build-up of their relationship felt believable, and not rushed at all given that they had a past to build on.

The plot was thoroughly enjoyable, although a little convoluted at times. It probably could have been a bit thinner and shorter and achieved the same end goal, but the fact that I was totally bought in the whole time, in spite of this, is a testament to the quality of the writing.

I enjoyed this book so much, that I instantly went and added more of the authors' work to my TBR. Expect more reviews of their books soon!

Book blurb

The honeymoon of a lifetime . . . with her sworn enemy!

Olive is always unlucky; her identical twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. While she's about to marry her dream man, Olive is forced to play nice with her nemesis: the best man, Ethan.

Yet Olive's luck may be on the turn . . . When the entire wedding - except for Olive and Ethan - gets food poisoning, there's an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs. Putting their mutual hatred aside, Olive and Ethan head for paradise. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him spirals out of control.

Forced to play loving newlyweds, she and Ethan find themselves in closer proximity than they ever expected. Soon, Olive finds that maybe she doesn't mind pretending. In fact, she's beginning to feel kind of . . . lucky.
